Wild Scarlet Macaw Appeared!

The first to be completed in my series of macaws. I had a bit of a paper experiment with this one and actually printed the drawing onto better quality paper before painting it. Let me know what you think! More macaws to come soon!

  2. I think he is just lovely... I really like the runny drips on his tail xx

  3. Gorgeous! I particularly like how you've done the highlight leading up from its wing and into the feathers on its neck.

  4. Yes Amy, fill an aviary with parrots. Is there a more challenging bird like the macaw with all its basic and splendid colors and posture. You are in the best company: Winthrop Stark Davis, Martin Erich Philipp, Edward Julius Detmold, Karl Russ, Jesse Arms Botke, Oskar Frey. And many great artists have shown their love and skill in painting macaws.
