H2EAU LONDON // Packaging Labels & Product Samples

During late 2017 through to early 2018 I had the utmost pleasure in working with company "GBBB aka Great British Beauty Brands", to help brand their new beauty product range, H2EAU London. I worked together with a talented graphic designer to produce a series of vibrant illustrations to adorn their Daily Rituals product labels.

The fragrances are: acai & blueberry, coconut & pineapple, cucumber & mint, watermelon & orange and pink grapefruit & cranberry,

When the products were complete, GBBB were wonderfully kind and sent me a box full of full-sized "samples" to try for myself! It was amazing to see my work on the finished products, in situ, and in real life, as opposed to in a photo on a screen. I am thrilled with how they turned out.

H2EAU is a new brand from a long-standing British company. They aim to use only high quality ingredients, and currently have a range of size products in five different fragrances. All of which have a very luxurious feel and smell INCREDIBLE! They are all free from animal ingredients and not tested on animals, making this initial range completely vegan friendly. Personally, I would compare the quality of the Daily Rituals range as similar to that of Bodyshop in the UK.

Their range currently includes: indulgent body butter, soothing body lotion, aromatic body mist, luxurious body wash, gentle body scrub and luxurious hand wash.

H2EAU LONDON // Beauty Packaging Illustrations

During late 2017 through to early 2018 I had the utmost pleasure in working with company "GBBB aka Great British Beauty Brands", to help brand their new beauty product range, H2EAU London. I worked together with a talented graphic designer to produce a series of vibrant illustrations to adorn their Daily Rituals product labels.

I actually worked on and produced the whole series of illustrations twice. I first completed concept pieces to be displayed at an exhibition show. After receiving feedback from the customers/guests at the show, we were able to use the comments to develop the designs further into the most effective, eye-catching designs possible. In total, I produced a set of seven final ingredient illustrations. The following are some stages of development...

From initial sketches, the designs then developed to the rough colour stage. These became the concept illustrations used at the show. Here are two designs that later changed quite a bit.

The final stage was to refine each design further, including shape and colours, and then redo from scratch at a higher quality.

POWER SAUCE by Essentis Berlin // Packaging Illustration for Organic Chilli Sauce

This week I had the pleasure of working with lovely people behind "Essentis" - a new brand created by chef Nicolas Petrucci. The brand "Essentis" shares its name with the popular biohotel in Berlin where Nicolas is head chef. Their first product is a pro-biotic and organic chilli-based sauce named "Power Sauce" and I was asked to create some vibrant chilli and mango-inspired
artwork to adorn the product labels.

The initial inspiration came from my own chilli pepper painting, which I used as a base to add more colourful watercolour splashes to make it that little bit more exciting(!) and painted new mango slices to match. As you can probably tell, this was a lot of fun to paint -
bold colour and abstract splashes? Right up my street.

The first concept labels:

I love how the typography works with the artwork. Here are the simplified labels on the first wave of packaging, ready to go:

And finally, a wonderfully designed Power Sauce poster using my artwork:

California Fruit Wine Co. // Pumpkin & Cranberry Fall Wines

Shortly after I created some fruity illustrations for California Fruit Wine Co.'s labels, a second batch was needed. This time it was "Pumpkin Spice" and Cranberry, whose flavours have just been released for the Fall/Autumn season. Yum!

California Fruit Wine Co. // Illustrations for Wine Bottle Labels

Way back at the start of the year, I was asked to create some fruity label illustrations for the fabulous California Fruit Wine Co.  The San Diego winery is the pioneer producer of all natural wines handcrafted from fruits other than grapes.

I illustrated each fruit separately and then placed pairs together where needed, working within the format of the labels. The style of the series is based on my own pineapple illustration (you might recognise!) from last year.

New Fruits: Red & Green Grapes and Wine labels

I have been so wrapped up in trying to get things done lately that I have been forgetting to blog! Here are some more portfolio images I have been working on. I have been wanting to create some more food illustrations, in particular for packaging, and where is a better place to start than some mock wine labels?

I aimed to paint big juicy bunches of grapes in a similar way to the vegetables (link) by drawing them from life and then focusing on capturing their rich colours. I have also added a background with these, something that I do not do often enough.

I attempted a much looser effect with some red grape vines, and have experimented with using them as a design for a mock Welch's juice design.
