The lovely Harpercollins publishers asked me to provide some new and updated beehive illustrations for their "Types of Hive" page in the Collin's Beekeeper's Bible.
I used the original illustrations from the book as reference for the first four hives, which were to remain the same, and added two new types, which replaced the out-of-date designs. Only two needed updating but to keep the page consistent, all six needed to be redone. It was a pleasure! I loved painting the woodgrain effect.
Honeycomb pattern experiments and a drippy, gooey, melty honeycomb heart, inspired by Valentine's Day of course :) I am planning to use these for some designs I have in mind!
I recently began creating charms via UK-based merchandise company Zap! Creatives.
Zap! digitally print the artwork onto acrylic which is 100% recycled from plastics that were destined from landfill and incineration. My first charm creations are using four fluffy bumblebee paintings I painted in 2016. My second was a recent red fox painting. I'm thrilled with how they turned out!
